WASHINGTON -- IDF Maj. Gen. (Ret.) Amos Yadlin, who recently completed a five-year tour as head of Israeli military intelligence, has joined The Washington Institute as the Kay fellow on Israeli national security, the research institution announced.

"We are delighted to host Amos Yadlin as our inaugural Kay Fellow," said Dr. Robert Satloff, Institute executive director. "A decorated pilot, respected commander, and brilliant intelligence analyst, he is truly among the best and the brightest Israel has ever produced. We are confident he will bring enormous 'value added' to Washington's understanding of the complexities of the Middle East."

Over his distinguished career, General Yadlin spent more than forty years in uniform, including service as defense attache in Washington, commandant of the IDF National Defense College, and deputy commander of the Israeli Air Force. He holds a master's degree in public administration from Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

General Yadlin joins a long list of Israeli military leaders as visiting fellows at the Institute, including Chiefs of Staff Shaul Mofaz and Moshe Yaalon. Over the years, they have joined military officers and defense fellows from the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Army, U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, Turkish Armed Forces, Jordanian Armed Forces, and Iraqi Ministry of Defense in contributing knowledge and expertise to the Institute's research. The Kay Fellowship is named in honor of Institute trustees Jack and Barbara Kay of Washington, DC, and Palm Beach, FL.
