Conference Tackles Pressing Middle East Issues

(WASHINGTON, D.C.) – Deputy national security advisor and special assistant to the president Denis McDonough, Egyptian business leader and founder of the liberal Free Egyptians Party Naguib Sawiris, former Israeli military intelligence chief Amos Yadlin, former White House Middle East advisor Ambassador Dennis Ross, and the Hoover Institute’s Fouad Ajami are among the unique group of foreign policy practitioners who will convene at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy’s Weinberg Founders Conference at the Lansdowne Resort and Conference Center in Leesburg, Virginia, May 4-6.

The conference enables policymakers, journalists and the community leaders to address Iran’s nuclear ambitions, the Arab Spring, the War on Terror and other challenges for American interests in the Middle East. Other key subjects that will be addressed include Chinese and Russian policy in the Middle East, U.S. policy in Syria, U.S.-Israel relations in a changing Middle East, navigating the Egyptian revolution, and alternative directions for political Islam.
