Eldad Shavit joined INSS in early 2017 as a senior research fellow following a long career in the IDF Intelligence Corps and the Prime Minister's Office in Tel Aviv. Col. (res.) Shavit's final post in the Intelligence Crops was assistant for assessment to the head of the research division. In the Prime Minister's Office, he served (2011-2015) as head of the research division. In 1994-1995 he served as head of the intelligence unit in the office of the military secretary to the Prime Minister and the Defense Minister.

Col. (res.) Shavit holds an M.A. in East Asian Studies and a B.A. in Middle East Studies from Tel Aviv University. He is a contributor to Fikra Forum.
