WASHINGTON - Andrew J. Tabler, Next Generation Fellow at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy, will testify before the House Subcommittee on the Middle East and South Asia this afternoon on the current nature of the conflict in Syria.

“In Syria, you have a minority-dominated regime that has a 42-year record of not being able to reform, ruling over an opposition carved out of one of the youngest populations in the Middle East outside the Palestinian territories. It’s mass chaos,” said Tabler.

In addition to Mr. Tabler, the committee will also hear testimony from Ms. Mara E. Karlin, an instructor with Johns Hopkins University’s School of Advanced International Studies, and Dr. Marc Lynch, a professor of political science at George Washington University. The hearing is open to the public.

What: Confronting Damascus: U.S. Policy Toward the Evolving Situation in Syria, Part II

When: 1:30 PM

Where: Room 2360 of the Rayburn House Office Building
