Energy and Economic Implications of the Iran-Israel Conflict

Join us for a live webcast with three energy-sector experts as they explore the economic impacts of recent hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the United States. Watch live starting at 11:00 a.m. EDT (1500 GMT) on Thursday, June 26, 2025.
The recent hostilities between Iran, Israel, and the United States have raised concerns in both the Gulf region and global markets about the potential impact on energy and maritime security, particularly oil and gas flows through the crucial Strait of Hormuz chokepoint. These sectors have been experiencing high risk since 2023, when the Yemeni Houthis greatly intensified their maritime attack campaign against global trade in response to the Gaza war. Will the Iran-Israel conflict and the U.S. strikes on the regime’s nuclear facilities heighten these dangers for giant oil and gas producers in the Gulf? And what are the short- and long-term implications for global trade and the domestic energy and economic sectors in Iran and Israel?
To discuss these questions, The Washington Institute is pleased to announce a virtual Policy Forum with three experts who follow these issues closely. The event will be moderated by senior fellow Noam Raydan, co-creator of the Institute’s Maritime Spotlight platform and interactive Maritime Attack Tracker.
