Seth Wikas

Seth Wikas is a visiting fellow at The Washington Institute, focusing on domestic Syrian politics and foreign policy. In 2005–2006, Mr. Wikas researched this topic in Damascus as a David Boren National Security Education graduate fellow. Previously, he served as editor-in-chief of Olive Branch, the official magazine of the nonprofit organization Seeds of Peace, based in Jerusalem. At Seeds of Peace, he was also responsible for initiating the organization's first Arabic-language publication, created for use in Palestinian refugee schools.

A fluent speaker of both Arabic and Hebrew, Mr. Wikas has a bachelor's degree (magna cum laude) in Near Eastern Studies from Princeton University and a master's degree in Middle East and Islamic Studies from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. As a graduate student, his research focused on twentieth-century Syrian history and religious sectarianism in Syria and Lebanon.

He is a past recipient of the prestigious Dorot Fellowship in Israel, a former State Department Near Eastern Affairs intern, and a former research assistant at The Washington Institute.
