Washington, D.C. - The Washington Institute's Militia Spotlight provides evidence-driven analysis of the leadership and activities of Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq and Syria. Founded by Institute Jill and Jay Bernstein Fellow Michael Knights, Associate Fellow Hamdi Malik, and Crispin Smith, the analytical blog collects timely, detailed, open-source information for the benefit of government officials and other researchers. Militia Spotlight keeps pace with new developments in the field and has reported on the growing influence of Iranian proxies as well as their involvement in the Ukraine War.
