Daniel M. Heckelman

Daniel M. Heckelman, a proven leader, strategist, and fundraising professional, is The Washington Institute's director of development. In that capacity, he is responsible for all aspects of the organization's development efforts, from charting the annual fundraising campaign, to supervising and coordinating the work of the Institute's three regional directors—in New York, Florida, and California—to spearheading the Institute's development initiatives in the Washington-Baltimore area.

A graduate of Brown University, Dan has served most recently as deputy executive vice president of B'nai B'rith International, where he was responsible for supervising the entire range of the organization's development efforts, including major gifts, annual fund, foundations, membership, endowment support, planned giving, and corporate development. Earlier in his career he coordinated the organization's national membership campaign and Israel programs.

Dan lives with his wife, Sally, an educator and musician, and their children in Silver Spring, Maryland.
