Scott Klempner

Scott L. Klempner is a lieutenant colonel in the United States Air Force and a 2016-17 military fellow at The Washington Institute.

Prior to the start of his fellowship, Colonel Klempner was the Geospatial Intelligence Ground Processing Systems program manager at the National Reconnaissance Office. Previously, he served as chief of the Integrated Combat Systems Division at the Air Force Rapid Capabilities Office. He has served as an acquisitions program manager for a broad range of space and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance system development programs as well as a Minuteman III ICBM combat crew commander. Colonel Klempner entered the Air Force in 1998 and holds an undergraduate degree in astronautical engineering, a graduate degree in space operations, and a doctorate in imaging science. He was a distinguished graduate of the United States Air Force Academy and a graduate of Air Force Squadron Officer School and Air Command and Staff College.

Colonel Klempner is a member of the Defense Department acquisition corps and holds level III Defense Acquisition certifications in program management and systems engineering.
