Scott Abramson is a Senior Fellow at The Washington Institute and Program Director of the the Washington Institute Education Initiative.
Dr. Abramson is a historian of the modern Middle East, with special focus on Israel’s relationships with minorities, domestic and regional. He received his Ph.D. from UCLA’s Department of Near Eastern Languages and Cultures and has held postdoctoral appointments at Israel studies centers at Northwestern University and UCLA, the latter honoring him with its highest accolade for instruction: the Distinguished Teaching Award. He served more recently as the senior research officer at the Center for Israel Education (CIE), a premier developer and curator of Israel studies resources. His articles on the history, culture, and politics of the modern Middle East have appeared in peer-reviewed journals and in such popular outlets as Newsweek, Tablet, and Mosaic.
