Mohamed Abdelbaky

Mohamed Abdelbaky is a Keston visiting fellow for The Washington Institute's Project Fikra, focusing on economic and political reform, democracy, governance, and youth development in the Middle East. He is also a diplomatic correspondent covering Middle East and North Africa (MENA) affairs for the Egyptian daily al-Shurouk.

Previously, he worked as MENA project coordinator for the Global Public Media Project at American University in Washington, D.C., where he also consulted for the UN World Food Program. From 2006 to 2008, as foreign affairs editor for Akher Saa magazine (one of Egypt's oldest publications), he was a two-time finalist for the Ibdaa Award, which highlights exceptional young reporters worldwide. Mr. Abdelbaky has also been a visiting fellow at Human Rights First, where he provided Arab world consulting to the international policy advisor.
