Jeremy Vaughan

Jeremy Vaughan, a commander in the United States Navy, was a 2016-2017 military fellow at The Washington Institute. A decorated naval aviator, Commander Vaughan served two combat deployments in support of Operation Enduring Freedom in Iraq as well as sea and forward deployments to Japan and to U.S. Africa Command. Most recently, he served as commander of Helicopter Maritime Strike Squadron 70, "Spartans," at sea with Carrier Strike Group 2, whose flagship is U.S.S. George H.W. Bush.

A 1997 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Commander Vaughan has served as a pilot, instructor, and squadron commander. In addition to decorations including the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Air Medal (Strike/Flight), the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal, the Joint Achievement Medal, and the Navy Achievement Medal, he has received numerous peer-selected leadership awards.
