Maj. Anthony Gurrieri (USAF) is a visiting military fellow at The Washington Institute.
Biography
Anthony Gurrieri, a major in the U.S. Air Force, was the chief of standardization and evaluation, 15th Operations Group, 15th Wing, Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii. There, he was responsible for leading standards and evaluation oversight of the 15th Operations Group, which provides global airlift, air refueling, and air superiority utilizing C-17, C-37, C-40, KC-135, and F-22 aircraft. A 2000 graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Major Gurrieri was assigned to the 437 Airlift Wing, Charleston Air Force Base, South Carolina, before upgrading to lead airdrop instructor pilot. He operated over 150 C-17A combat sorties into Iraq and Afghanistan supporting Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. A senior pilot with more than 2,500 hour in C-17A, T-37B, and T-1A aircraft, Major Gurrieri has also served as a Pacific Air Forces C-17A demonstration pilot.
